And if you don’t care one iota about the survival of pro-genocide, pro-Reform BBC simply cancel your TV licence, which I have done.

The UK Government insists I pay for schools etc. and I support their right to tax me and spend that as they see fit. UK Government also says I don’t have to pay for BBC, so I don’t. If you think that makes me selfish then that’s very much your problem.

Not remotely what I said. I don’t watch BBC TV so very happy for that to die. I listen to BBC Radio shows mostly out of a sixty year habit and I am happy for that to go too, particularly after so many good intelligent shows like Science in Action have been cancelled.

The BBC has other income streams and, besides, my taxes pay for lots of services that I don’t use because that’s just the way that these things work.

Lots! I walk several hours a day with podcasts for company, these are some of the more political ones.

Don’t watch news, or any live tv, as I don’t have a license. I follow lots of news organisations and journalists here and on Feedly (RSS feeds). I also listen to podcasts for more depth.

I know exactly what living without BBC is like, I cancelled my TV licence because the far-right had already taken over.

I voted with my wallet a while ago and cancelled my TV license. Missing Sewing Bee is a small price to pay for not supporting the far right.

Nothing reasonable about deliberately starving children.

Exactly. And ditto Labour Party.
November 10, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Absolutely. And they did exactly the same for technology with Digital Planet and Tech Tent.

I’d like to think I helped to fix the @ecotricity.bsky.social app. A recent update introduced several usability issues so I explained to them exactly what they were (e.g. having to manually enter today’s date) and they have all been fixed.

Get AI to design one for you.

Such a shame to lose another great BBC science and technology programme, following in the regrettable footsteps of shows like Digital Planet and Tech Tent. BBC seems to be ignoring the Educate part of their mission.

Shocked that this still happens in a busy part of London, especially one with a prominent Middle East population.

For me the problem with most US superhero fights is the amount of basic punching that goes on, e.g. Mr Fantastic using his amazing stretch abilities just to punch at a distance.

Don’t know how much you follow UK politics but the Dems seem to be following UK Labour’s approach, move towards the enemy (Reform) when you think that’s what the public wants rather than explaining why they are wrong and offering better options. UK Labour is tanking in all polls and real elections.

No, AI will not transform healthcare. Only technologies like vaccines and antibiotics can do that.

The idea that everyone in the whole country, whatever they do, has to switch their clocks one hour twice a year is simple madness. People can gradually change working times etc. through the year as suits them and their work.
