By the way: he was a big fan and supporter of The Stephanie Miller Show, which I’m on every Monday. We interacted a couple of times through that connection. It is selfishly moving to me that a hero of mine knew who I am. I wanna tell the 7 year-old me watching our old TV all about that.

So, yeah, Rob Reiner became an incredible director. But his antiwar, feminist, civil rights-supporting character from 50 years ago showed me the kind of person I wanted to be. And the fact that Reiner was that in real life, too, made me admire him all the more.
