I am really struggling with this. I thought it was bad but just a "older artist not getting it" thing when my regional arts org messed around with AI for their event advertising. That seems to have phased out. But this? This is a local school district teaching students to use AI for ideation...

I'm hours into the Origins game, and there's not a single face in the rocks. There is no glimpse of distant horizons. Very little underbrush, moss, or ferns.

carving. And THAT is a major loss, because the landscape of the original game conveys age and magic and seamlessness that isn't present in the remake.

Now, here's the original game alongside the plan for the remake.

11 x 7, finally found a perfect palette. Probably going to submit this one for LAA's upcoming Winter/Holiday Exhibition.

Even more minimal Corot palette, for winter. 10.5x7, acrylic. Please appreciate how small this horse is.

Parts of this turned out surprisingly good. Parts are super scuffed.

Okay bsky, since you got the last one late, you get the new one pronto.

12 x 24, acrylic on absorbent ground, hardboard base.
The scene is Monticello, IL, in December. You know the view is like this on sides. Bright light, bare earth, sparse as bones. Air that is crisp and clear.

Did I... not post this to bsky? This was my August painting, now hanging in the fall show in Bethlehem. The postmortem is up now, too: moorecozy.com/2025/09/24/p...

I really love the juxtaposition of the top left with the bottom left. Can't wait to see in person so I can know whose work is above mine.

Day 2: Let's get some details in this.
September 1, 2025 at 12:42 PM
The plan for September's painting (for the anniversary show) is to revisit this scene. This time I'm going back to the dimensions of the digital version. I'm definitely ready to change the aesthetics of the central tree for a better composition. Still working out what else stays or goes.

This is my first time submitting to a juried show since high school, and my first time submitting a painting. I'm SO excited about this piece and how it turned out, and I'll know by this afternoon whether it's in the show. Fingers crossed for me, because I could really use the confidence boost.
