Watched an insightful video on Yaoguai and how they work/how they come to be and it's quite informative.
It's not much more complicated than the concept of Yokai (unsurprisingly) but it's also the way they come to be compared to Yokai that stands out.
Yokai just became more marketable.

Only when I need to make new characters do I actively care but when I'm done it's back outside of the bubble.

Canon time matters little to RP.
