This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Adding layers to writing (reflection, self-assessment, etc.) is critical. I heard it described (by Phillip Dawson & Kiata Rundle) as "The Swiss Cheese Model." Any one layer of AI plagiarism prevention will have holes, but if we stack layers, we can cover the holes. Here's a slide from our workshop:

Also, taking this moment to re-iterate my annual professional opinion that big tests on the final days before any school break is an assessment practice (tradition?) that just needs to stop. If you can't answer (pedagogically) why you do it, or to what purpose, it's time to change it up. #edusky
Sometimes, this last week of school before the holidays absolutely sucks for so many unrelated reasons. Be kind to your kids and colleagues. It's a terrible time for some, and a wickedly exciting time for others. The combination is exhausting. So done. #edusky
