Some very interesting #auspol results on contributors to the housing crisis & policy preferences from the MQ Housing and Urban Research Centre that show a strong partisan split

Results are also filtered by age, housing tenure & property investment in the report

These comments from Milne don’t suggest a nuanced position, just a blanket opposition + a degrowth mentality (and someone who doesn’t know about the Jevons Paradox)

Some very interesting comments from Alex Hawke about how some in the Liberal Party don’t accept the multicultural demographic reality of Australia which ain’t gonna change #auspol

A good little chart from the Parliamentary Library showing how almost all social spending by the Commonwealth is already means-tested #auspol

There’s this ridiculous provision in the Tasmanian ALP rules

A nice Treasury chart that shows who benefits from the largest tax concessions in Australia by income quintiles from the Economic Reform Roundtable's Budget sustainability and tax reform paper. Shows why these tax concessions need to be overhauled #auspol

It‘d only be considered a “niche” #auspol issue if the communities you live in & the social circles you are part of aren’t culturally diverse. The reality is 1/4 of the Australian population has a non-European (excluding First Nations) cultural background meaning it is even higher in SYD & MELB

There’s been lots of focus on the impact of the teals but the growing cultural diversity of the #auspol electorate is a huge factor that doesn’t get the attention it deserves

Labor has much more to do but it’s the only major party starting to take it seriously & reaps the electoral dividends so far

Voters do not see Labor as centre-right, if anything they see it slowly drifting more to the left. It’s simply that the Greens have been increasingly perceived as far more left-wing than they were in the 1990s

ICYMI - Penny Wong spoke out about Jane Hume’s racist claim that “Chinese spies” were handing out HTVs & how it showed that Chinese Australians cannot trust the Coalition because they continue to question our loyalty #auspol #ausvotes

Jane Hume made an extraordinarily defamatory & racist claim that “Chinese spies” are handing out for Labor #auspol #ausvotes

One Nation and the Coalition are in lockstep. A vote for one is a vote for the other #auspol #ausvotes

All the more reason why it is important for Labor to have a caucus that reflects the cultural diversity of its voting base

We’ll see hopefully see a bunch of new culturally diverse ALP MPs get elected on May 3

Former Liberal, turned independent candidate Andy Yin, is preferencing the teal independent in Bradfield over his former party. Seems very likely this seals victory for the teals as he is spending big & will have volunteers handing out HTVs #auspol #ausvotes

Dutton makes another false claim about the APS, saying Australia has one of the highest no of public servants per capita

We’re actually lower than the OECD average for public servants as a % of the population
