Things feel a bit stalled, so here are some of the images from the book.

I would appreciate any support, even if it is £1, but for £10 you can get a PDF and for £25 a perfect-bound book, and for £35 a hardback book, which includes delivery in the UK. Unfortunately, delivery elsewhere is added

My project was selected by Kickstarter's "project we love"

Last week I found a book of 56 paintings I made for a pitch. It’s from 2021/22, made mainly on the sofa when my back wouldn’t stop hurting. But I think I want to look at selling it, and making a limited hardcover version through Kickstarter.

Random print sold so I walked down to the post office to post it

Yesterday was day 3287 of drawing daily or 9 years on the dot of daily sketchbooks .

Got to keep going

It made me feel like I was just wasting paper and materials, but it’s more wasted if it’s just sat there.

So recently I’ve been trying to force myself to sketch more, but today is the first time I’ve enjoyed it.

Was inspired by Ian McQue’s tenements but we don’t have them here.

Before it got warm this morning I sat out in the yard sketching.

A year ago someone I admire criticised the quick impulsiveness of my drawings and I struggled since with drawing around others and I haven’t been sketching as much as I should. When I’ve gone out I haven’t really sketched this year.

Today, I have been doing more spring cleaning. There is so much stuff around being an artist, and there is just too much of it. I wish I could just let it all go and start afresh.

I have tried to keep busy, but everything keeps failing. Yet I
persevere.

Last year, I did the Fleetwood sketchwalks, and I made a series of colouring sheets for the project. After that, I was commissioned to make colouring sheets for the Fleetwood Civic Society.

I have failed to get my next round of funding for my next major project, and I have reapplied again.

How a photograph can make you feel dispondant:
I took both these photos this morning of the exact same piece, first with my phone that produced a washed-out image and made me feel like I wasn't doing a good job.

The other is with my DSLR, which is more true to life. The colours are so much better.

It's spring and the dandelions are out again

From the Archive 2016: A few series I was working with including boats and buoys and different sorts of slip pottery.

A lot of the plates I gave away to other potters with blackcurrant pies on. I never really mass-produced this as by this point, I had a day job, and I was exhausted all the time. This was something I made for fun, though I wish I had made myself an entire dinner service, I love the look of this work

These have some of my favourite images of food and the blue and white with the waves actually goes back to design work done whilst I was doing my ceramics degree, but during my ceramics degree, I had restrained myself.

Wave-ware was made in 2016-2017 and was a simultaneous development with wonky pots and the seaside saggar range shown yesterday.
April 5, 2025 at 7:19 AM
My Seaside Saggar series is perhaps one of my favourite series of work, using waste and found materials to create surfaces I didn't think possible in an electric kiln. The whole ethos of this work is against mass production and throwing things away.

Images from 2021 when I started painting all the RNLI buildings but never finished.

I don't feel like I have been productive this week, which is frankly untrue; I have achieved a lot. But to me, it just doesn't feel like an achievement, but then none of my qualifications ever did

I made a book from all the drawings and the book was added to the Lancashire Archives Collection in 2023.

There is a digital version of the book with all participants' drawings if you sign up to the mailing list on my website: www.JosephTravis.com

From 2021, working with Derelict for "We are Open", which was looking at a the world post-2020 as things started to open up again

My project was "A New Perspective" I spent a week in residence at Preston Bus Station sketching Preston; people were asked to draw their favourite places in Preston

From the Archive, some day in the mid-1700s, so a little over 4 years ago vs ten days ago.

My daily sketchbook is my main source of practice, enjoyment, interest?

I don't really enjoy making it to share it. Sharing puts the pressure on to be perfect. So I have stopped sharing it mostly.

I just found a digital version of the clean inks of my desk
March 31, 2025 at 10:06 AM
Finally scanned, and illustrated on illustrator. To get to the stage, is at least 40 hours each.

Now, I would just CAD the elements up in a fraction of the time, have components I can use time and again.
