Because no one spends as much on science as the US does, destroying NIH, NSF, NOAA, NASA, EPA, USDA, USGS, etc. is leading to a brain drain, but it's not to other countries but rather from science. This senseless destruction of US science will hurt the US and the world for a very long time.

To see why destroying the US science enterprise is so detrimental to the world, we have to realize that the US spends more on research and development than any other country in the world (by far), and if we remove China and Japan, the US spends almost as much as ALL other countries combined.

I’m pretty sure all the astronomers already heard this bad news, but idk how many other folks know about this proposal—NASA science would be absolutely GUTTED if this passed. US astronomy & astrophysics would be dead. We can’t let this happen—tell your reps, & your friends!

"By August, staff at the rival studios had now occupied their own buildings, and stood ready to fight over the materials and machinery left in each – in the event of studio bankruptcy, the film stock, costumes, cameras and lights would all be valuable assets. In a lively section of his memoirs, Kurosawa Akira reported (1983: 165) the Toho faction manning the barricades, led by an actor in a cowboy hat. Meanwhile, the electricians repurposed their lamps as spotlights to ward off night attacks, and the special-effects department installed wind machines at the barricaded gates, with sacks of cayenne pepper primed in the event of an enemy assault. Fire hoses and rain machines were turned into water cannon, and paint bombs tested that could saturate targets in a sticky blue mist – Kurosawa himself had suggested blue would be less antagonistic than red. Not all protestors were as careful with their attackers’ feelings as Kurosawa – more proactive agitators had prepared broken glass and sand ready to fling into the giant fans.
