Afternoon #recoveryposse today marks four years since my last sip of alcohol & line of cocaine.
I was a mess. Drinking & using every day, tens of thousands in debt.
I’m now addiction & debt free

Morning #RecoveryPosse this will be my 4th sober Christmas
The 1st one, my addiction made me feel like it was going to be awful, I’d miss out, friends would laugh at me for not drinking or using & more
Guess what? None of that happened, I enjoyed myself & now Christmas is fun!

It’s very easy to put pressure on yourself to make the ‘perfect’ Christmas by comparing your plans to others.
My advice is just do the things you enjoy, with your family & friends & take no notice of what everyone else is up to.
Make memories not instagram likes.

The one piece of advice I can give over the festive period to anyone trying to beat an addiction is:
Put your recovery first. There will be more Christmases this way.
If you don’t, there may not.
Treat #recovery like a matter of life & death. Because it is.
