This person could simply do them at home. Laughing gas has been implicated in numerous serious car accidents. Doing it behind the wheel is extremely dangerous and puts pedestrians and other road users at risk.

He wasn't a citizen at the time though, so how could he be African American? And he obviously isn't Black. I was born in NZ but would never describe myself as Māori or Polynesian, thereby depriving someone of a place under NZ's similar initiatives.

Correct, government is so it has a responsibility to enact inward migration policy that reflects that shortage. It can't act as if it doesn't exist.

It's not about blaming individual migrants, but government has a responsibility to determine migration policy that reflects the reality of our housing stock/pipeline and planning regime. It can't pretend those don't exist.

You're ignoring Sunder's point. No one credibly near power is suggesting deporting all non-British citizens, that's a red herring.

Immigration levels reached a record high in salience on More in Common's tracker last month. It's not politically credible for Starmer to gut his core policy to address this, especially so soon after announcing it.

The care worker visa is one component, more broadly immigration levels are still a top 3 issue. If Starmer is forced to announce wholesale non-implementation of the white paper and a softening of the drive to reduce it the impact on his credibility will be dire.

It's a personal matter based on what someone personally identifies with. I don't know what was in his mind. Maybe there is evidence of him identifying with a particular ethnic ancestry? Not a Disraeli expert tbh.

You'd have had to have asked him what he identified as at the time, but White British didn't even exist as a census category then presumably.
