But he gets a national paper to highlight him and his SOFT approach to Trump's facism (also unprompted comment that reveals his true feelings on war criminals and international law) and he's happy to hold an interview

The fact that Whitmire himself admitted that he will not stand up for the city and cower behind Abbott and Trump, all the while trying to prop himself up as a progressive as if he isn't turning the city back 50 years.
