Retreating into movies a lot lately. I cannot stress enough how terrible the Return to Silent Hill is, nor how hilarious Nirvanna: the Band, the Show, the Movie is.

A brutal movie with a banging soundtrack, a fun romp with teen Japanese assassins, a dark funny commentary on capitalism that I finally got to see, and a confirmation that I don't get Michael Mann but action can be fun (and Cruise is a great villain)

I didn't quite meet my goal of the films I wanted to see last year but that just means I have a full roster to catch up in these first two weeks of the new year!

Getting into the holiday spirit with some rewatches and some new to me fare. Disappointed in Babygirl but Remember the Night was charming. We have 16 movies on the watch-before-the-end-of-the-year list so it's gonna be an exciting week ahead :)

Clue in the theater was great, but I wish I could have picked the ending I got. Angel's Egg is one I hadn't seen before and I'm still thinking about it. Wicked: For Good was a satisfying ending though I still think it could have been one movie

Children of the Corn might be the worst movie I've ever seen. Death Becomes Her definitely shows its age but my childhood memories remain fond. And A Separation is a masterpiece I'm going to be thinking about for weeks

A triumphant return. Finishing up the Hunger Games series & loving it. One Battle After Another is in my top 10 of the year. My October spooky movie series is off to a disappointing start. And Fallen Angels is great but no In the Mood for Love

After missing last week (only watched one movie because Silksong), I'm back on my bullshit. I'm loving the Hunger Games movies (only saw the first one the first time around). I don't know how I feel about Suspiria (2018), still. Relay was fun.

Doing something creative is its own reward, I think.

Picked up our James Bond series watch again with a better movie than I was expecting. Quite enjoyed Caught Stealing in the theater, but the real star this week was Pride (2014). A feel good historical comedy was just what I needed

Not shown from this week because so many movies - also saw Weapons and the new Naked Gun (really enjoyed both). The 4k restoration of Jaws on the big screen was a delight. There's just something about seeing movies at the movies, you know?

I missed last week because of so many days of guests but back in action now! Really loved Blindspotting (2018) and the Surfer (2024) was so delightfully strange and engaging.

Another action franchise, though one with fewer movies than my last one. Been enjoying revisiting film from my teens and 20s, from when I identified as someone who didn't like movies (I don't know what I was thinking!)
But for real, movies are rad.

Some old, some new. Highlight of the week was Mulholland Drive on 35mm, a film I haven't seen since college and forgot how much I loved.

This week was getting to see David Lynch shorts in a packed theater (I love how my town's film community punches above its weight class) and finally getting around to seeing the Wedding Banquet from earlier this year.
