Well, of course they did!

Yes, it does! It's not only the age situation. It's how comfortable politicians get with power the longer they stay. Many tend to forget that they're there to serve.

Not far enough!

There's no easy answer. However, I truly believe that changes in personal attitudes, especially when there's hate involved, necessitates willingness to change. The only way I see to weaken homophobia is by raising rational and kind children. Adults aren't very willing to change.

Expecting homophobia to weaken by having a welcoming community is wasted energy. Life isn't a Disney movie where we all sing cumbaya at the end. Why bring nasty people and negativity into your life? That's a good way to get hurt, emotionally, and, in some cases, even physically.

🤦🏻‍♀️
That's hard to unsee!

After the election, I responded to posts, claiming that Latinos' increasing republican votes resulted from misogyny and machismo. I stated that, while true for some voters, L. A. countries had elected female presidents, U.S. hadn't (5-0). Misogyny is an American problem. Sheinbaum is badass, indeed!

It's sad, indeed! But a considerable number of Americans aren't even aware that there were lessons to be learned from this episode in American history. Ignorance is not bliss. It's lethal.

Agree! And, of those Latino voters that showed up, greater numbers voted for the other guy than in previous elections. The party needs to revamp how it approaches and attracts Black and Latino voters. It has taken these sectors for granted. No wonder Black women are upset!

I agree. Yet, as a historian, I saw this coming a mile away. History will have the last say and judgement. Prepare for a very dark Gilded Age 2.

I'm sorry, but how was this not expected? It took too long to bring these cases up, and the defense was successful in placing roadblocks along the way. All that was accomplished by these cases was to elevate him to almost a place of martyrdom in his followers' eyes.

😆
Figured you would probably reply with a meaningless comeback. Here's one that's not meaningless: Hope none of your young relatives have to live with the consequences of preventable diseases. It's not their fault people like you are gambling with their health.

And the idea with the covid vaccine was to ameliorate the consequences of infection. I got covid before the vaccine, and it pretty much unraveled my life in terrible ways. If it helped some people fight infection better, then it did its job. I don't wish full blown covid on anyone.
November 25, 2024 at 10:43 PM
I was referring to vaccines in general, not covid.

In addition, diseases like measles are caused by viruses, which can't be treated with antibiotics anyway. Also, a graph about death rate doesn’t say much about incidence and the consequences of the diseases even if survived. I could go on, but I don't like to waste my time. Good luck!

Well, this is the problem when people like you pretend to know more than they do. Smallpox inoculations have been available since the late 18th century. The efforts in the 60s and 70s were to eradicate it. So, your interpretation of this data is inaccurate regarding smallpox. 1

I don't consider myself "left", I consider myself a "centrist". The problem is that we're currently in a country of extremes. I'm willing to explore disagreements. However, I'm not willing to explore irrationality and blind adherence to cult premises.

Agree that ultraprocessed food is a problem. However, your statement about vaccines is plain selfish and relues on a false equivalency. Abortion is not infectious and, therefore, it doesn't affect others. You becoming "typhoid Mary" does. But who cares about others, right?
