It's wrong because the guys who do it tend to follow up with beating and coercion and because they would sleep with women who aren't intimidated or choked into submission if they were able to do that.

I just rechecked the story. She smuggled in an illegal phone for him. There are rules against inmates having phones for a lot of reasons.

My experience with money is that there's a point where money is transparent. You just have enough of it and that point is less than a million. Beyond that, if you're not happy with $$60K to $80K a year for a single person, you're not going to be happy with more.

I sympathize with the Costa Rican laws that make sex between mid-teens legal, sex work only legal for 18 and older, and even more with the Nicaraguan law that requires carding if two people are checking into a hotel/motel and there's an age difference and the older one is a gringo.

Wrong coasts -- East coast is close to Colombian islands. West Coast is Pacific side. Friend grew up in East Germany until he was 13 and reunification happened. The guys who run drugs at the lower levels are disposable from other accounts.

Or someone in the higher levels of the chain of command is running drugs and doesn't want competition. German friend was out on the west coast of here when some guy approached him to carry drugs back east. German friend said no because he feared getting killed at the end of the run.

The danger is that the prisoner will manipulate the warden into letting him escape. The women guarding men need to be better trained and better supervised.

That's not a particularly attractive man. Historically, before steam ship, nothing moved on the ocean without either galley oars or sails made of women's work in spinning the thread and weaving the sail cloth. Go back far enough and nobody worked for money.

Legal prostitution should have exit programs, and should have laws protecting a woman's decision to leave. And protection and shelter for runaways. Statutory rape is a lesser crime than rape of a pre-pubescent child, but it's still a crime.

Some people argue that girls who are past pubescence are fair game, but even nations with legal prostitution don't allow women under 18 to be sex workers, and do have laws against pimping in some cases (Nicaragua). Man and younger person come in to rent a hotel room in Nicaragua, both get carded.
