Hey, SCBWI friends: voting is open for the Crystal Kite Awards. Closing June 27th.
Have you voted in the Crystal Kite Awards yet?

Each year we recognize great books from around the world. The Crystal Kite Awards are chosen by other children's book writers and illustrators, making them the only peer-given awards in publishing for young readers.

Vote via your Member Home.

The Kingdom of Silk series by Glenda Millard. Glorious cover art/ illustrations by Caroline Magerl (book 1) & Stephen Michael King (rest of series). Photo is from my Insta (2018). This is a warm hug of a series, gently teasing out complex life events and emotions.
Highly recommended. #kidLit

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I'm re-posting my old social media content & giving some love to older releases. (Not that WTWTA is lacking in love, but I still like this photo I took in 2018, back when I used to post photos of books with some zhooshing. )

The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone by Jaclyn Moriarty, illustrations by Kelly Canby. A re-post of an old Insta post.
My 2018 comments:
Magic! Meddling! Mayhem! +dry humour, pirates, faeries & dragons. A page-turner with occasional quirky illustrations.
Love this series.

Find Peace in a Poem: poetry about mindfulness. I bought this gem of a book at @paperbird_books.

This anthology has a mix of poets & illustrators. Familiar poems (Kit Wright’s ‘The Magic Box’; Michael Rosen’s ‘The Rhythm of Life’) + new ones. Balm for the soul. Highly recommend.
