White people are so afraid of becoming the minority because they're afraid people of color will treat white people the way white people have treated people of color.

I've finally gotten to a point in my life where I need more than one slow cooker.

He's pathetic and, deep down, he knows it. I don't believe in Hell, so the only punishment I think he will ever receive is having to be Donald Trump. That's worse than anything the devil could dream up.

Meditation: yea or nay?

Have you tried it? Do you swear by it? How do you do it?

How do you "turn off" the stream of chatter in your brain? If I can't turn off that chatter, am I doing it wrong? Will I ever be able to do it right?

In the fall, I keep my house at an uncomfortable 58 degrees so my cat has no choice but to snuggle with me.

Many brilliant women, like Sylvia Plath, Frida Kahlo, and Marie Howe, were, for at least some time, overshadowed by their male romantic counterparts, who had half the talent of these women. What other brilliant women have yet to have their art recognized? Let me know!

Do I need an excuse to buy more books? No.

Will I take advantage of this excuse? Yes!
Your friendly neighborhood librarian here...buy physical copies of your favorite books, especially challenged or banned books. Preferably from small local merchants. That's all; carry on. #Read #BookSky #Resist 📚

I didn't watch the Super Bowl, but I hope it brought joy to those who did. What brings you joy in these times?

This is terrifying!

Only in the last year have I been able to purposefully give up on a book I wasn't enjoying. My last DNF (did not finish) was The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I was expecting historical fiction, not romantic fiction, but it was the anachronisms that made me give up. What books have you given up on?
I chose not to finish a book today even though I was 1/2 way~600 page tome.
I have never liked abandoning books. I'm not sure if it is about scarcity or that when something is deemed literature I should just force my way through the discomfort but I don't quit books often

Ai was the mistress of the persona poem. In her 2003 collection, Dread, she inhabits characters dealing with personal grief and the collective trauma of 9/11 and the Tulsa race massacres, her own ancestors, and a psychic detective. Highly recommended!

Whoa! This is how it should be everywhere!
Since that last one really got the blood pumping, let's look at something positive this time.

Did you know in 35 countries, authors earn royalties every time someone borrows their book from a library. It makes sure writers get paid even when books are free to readers! #PublishingIndustry #Libraries

The anger MAGA has been stirring up over DEI is the same anger that led to the Tulsa race massacre: lots of white people who feel like they haven't achieved the American dream (who has?) and are more than happy to blame marginalized people instead of the wealthy who are ACTUALLY responsible.

The only hope we have right now are that the fascists this time are REALLY dumb.
If Musk, Capo Trump’s enforcer, meant to freeze the work of government, he’s doing a great job. By short-circuiting the legislative process, he has invited (and is receiving) lawsuits that will freeze everything in place. This is what Amateur Hour gets you.
