Since then many countries have used our constitution as a template for their own governments. We have been an inspiration for the spread of democracy across the world. Yet as other countries expand their freedoms and we are taking them away.

As a country we don’t have to agree on everything. As the melting pot of races and cultures that we have become, we need to honor the rights and traditions of every citizen. It doesn’t matter what race, gender, culture, religion we are associated with, we all deserve equality and respect.

I pray for our leaders everyday, that they will open their hearts and minds to do what is right for the people under their jurisdiction; or that they will be replaced with those who will.
