It's the classic motte and bailey tactic - the implied claim is indefensible, but the explicit claim is. So boosters will always fall back to "all I said was..." and pretend that their opponents are the ones making ludicrous claims that we will Butlerian Jihad generative AI out of tech.

"This technology is here to stay" is one of my favorite AI booster claims because it means absolutely nothing. Sure ok, we probably won't destroy and ban all LLMs forever - but that's such a low bar.

Right before I left twitter I was asking around for a paradox game to finally try and by and large the recommended game was stellaris. Then they announced a dlc with genai assets and I was straight up like "okay then I will not be playing stellaris." No quarter, fucker! If you use this tech I'm out!
