This really warrants further comparisons to its two predecessors: BlueMoon Software's Kosmonaut (1990) and SkyRoads (1993), which despite being third-person, still have visible cockpits.

Again our ship is visible in front of us, but the cockpit is still on screen, now represented in 256 color VGA. The layout is completely different. The gauge cluster in the center consists of a large circle indicating the current speed, and inside of that are two half-circles indicating oxygen and fuel. To either side of the gauges are a reading of the current road's gravity, and the Jump-O-Master, which indicates whether the jump button is ready. Far to the left, a horizontal purple bar-graph shows the completion progress of the current road, filling in as the ship continues forward.
