Finally took it off my shelf after years of it staring at me and I thrilled that I did. 55 pages in and I must know what happened to them in Vietnam.

Reading some this morning and needed a good laugh. Daft Wullie from, The Wee Free Men does exactly that.

Book #76 of 2025
The Briar Book of the Dead by @angelaslatter.bsky.social . I have previously read short stories by Slatter and loved them, happy to say her novel is grand, too.

The book follows a family of witches with a lot of family secrets and protagonist that is determined to discover them.

Book #74 of 2025
Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett. A wonderful reread that gave me plenty of laughs. Like every time I read a Discworld novel I take a look at my world and say, Yeah, Terry understood the absurdity of humans.

I miss him immensely.

I’ve been bad about keeping track of my reads this year and trying to get back on it.

So here is book #73 of 2025
Dogs of War by @aptshadow.bsky.social . This was a fantastic novel that delves into topics of war, animal exploitation, humanity, and humans inability to understand anything else.

Been a minute since I shared out some beautiful book mail. Some @angelaslatter.bsky.social, lots of @aptshadow.bsky.social who I have recently discovered and love his style and stories. Finally one by @rjbarker.bsky.social that was recommended by my friend @sheenalouisef.bsky.social. Packed shelf 😅

“Mere animals couldn’t possibly manage to act like this. You need to be a human being to be really stupid.”
-Terry Pratchett

My country and my state have me feeling this statement a lot.

I am being silently judged for doing library collection analysis instead of playing with somebody. In other news I’m ready to get my school board meeting over with tomorrow night.

Here are my current reads. My fevers have cleared and I have finally had 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep after 4 days, so I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

Every year I forget how much anxiety I get whenever I go back to school after winter break and start trying to get back overdue books. I just have to deep breath, lol. #librarians

I think I can say that I have read my last book for the year. 2024 has been another great year for reading, 305 is my best year ever on Goodreads since I joined 8 years ago. Looking forward to more great reads in 2025.

Book #305 of 2024
Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft. This is one of the most original books I’ve ever read. Full of wonder and mystery while exploring and experiencing the Tower of Babel alongside Senlin, all while he searches for his lost wife.

Book #304 of 2024
Down with the System by Serj Tankian. I am a bit of a SODA fan, so when I saw this one I knew I would read it. I decided to do the audiobook which is read by the author and adds another level to the book. I had expected a little more about the band but it was still enjoyable.

Book #301 of 2024
Carnivorous Lunar Activities by@fuckmaxbooth.bsky.social . This book was great, the SJG quote and werewolf of London quote really set the tone. Humorous and gross with some real horror as the story progresses between two friends. I would love to see this book back in print #booksky

Book #299 of 2024
Dawnshard by Brandon Sanderson. Continuing my reread before taking the new Winds of Truth. Dawnshard follows a couple of previously introduced characters and a chance to meet another new race on Roshar. Just an in between novella before going into Rhythms of War.

I’m heading to Arkansas today to check on my father, his health has not been good. The big decisions have been what books to bring with me. Comfort reads with Scalzi and Davis but 1st reads from Lee and Booth. The hard decisions.
