I love books and most bookish people
Can I recommend this gorgeous book?

June reading was a very mixed bunch!
From the best 5***** to a book I thought was dreadful and gave the lowest mark.
Safe to say I’m not a fan of Kate Atkinson but maybe this was not one of her better books.

Average for the month 4.3!
Normally it’s around 3.5.

May was a very good month for the enjoyment of my reading.
‘James’ was a reread for a book group.
‘Lolita’ was inspired by reading ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’ last month.
‘The Other Valley’ was an impulse buy but a good one
My brain is still buzzing with thoughts about many of them.

My favourite was ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’, not an easy read but so so good.

Now that’s an eclectic mix!
Not my best month for enjoyment sadly

April was a quiet reading month - no reading at all on ten days - that’s quite unusual for me

I’ve been using StoryGraph for a few months now and I love it. I agree that the ’moods’ are a bit random. I like to see the covers of my tbr pile. I also like the summary by month showing everything that I have read in various formats and also seeing how many pages I’ve read each month.

My flowers match my reading!

The categories are a bit random. I tend to think of historical fiction as bodice rippers rather than stories set in the past so I’m always a bit miffed when it looks as though I’ve read a lot of historical fiction 😂

Sone of my March reading was for book groups so maybe not what I would choose to read
March 31, 2025 at 10:34 PM
March reading had mixed fortunes - some books that I did not enjoy and some absolute crackers
March 31, 2025 at 10:32 PM
I was surprised that I read more historical than contemporary fiction.

I’m feeling grumpy because I need to read Any Human Heart for next Friday’s book club but I really really want to read the Donal Ryan. The William Boyd has been on my tbr pile for ages but I’m struggling with it.

February was a good book month

Now this is my sort of book…..

January was a good month for reading.
I also borrowed and read ‘Hannah Coulter’ by Wendell Berry but I’ve given that one back.
Klara was a reread for a book club.
My favourite was probably ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ - quite challenging but I was totally absorbed.
Hello Beautiful was a good story.

Nice!
Here’s my stash with a lovely book mark and a notebook where I record everything I read.

Morning Womble!
I’m nearly finished this. Good but not as good as ‘Line of Beauty’ imo. I’m waiting for the paperback version of ‘Our Evenings’ as I do love Alan Hollinghurst’s writing

I seem to remember that I wasn’t going to buy any more books this year?
Errm…
Well…
I did 😎
Have you read any of these?
December 7, 2024 at 6:37 PM
Still on the tbr pile.
At 1125 pages it’s a serious commitment

I love this quote from the late Paul Auster - “the beautiful stillness”….
