I love books and most bookish people
Can I recommend this gorgeous book?

June reading was a very mixed bunch!
From the best 5***** to a book I thought was dreadful and gave the lowest mark.
Safe to say I’m not a fan of Kate Atkinson but maybe this was not one of her better books.

Average for the month 4.3!
Normally it’s around 3.5.

I’m not usually so generous with my ratings! I just had a lucky month
May was a very good month for the enjoyment of my reading.
‘James’ was a reread for a book group.
‘Lolita’ was inspired by reading ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’ last month.
‘The Other Valley’ was an impulse buy but a good one
My brain is still buzzing with thoughts about many of them.

Now that’s an eclectic mix!
Not my best month for enjoyment sadly

April was a quiet reading month - no reading at all on ten days - that’s quite unusual for me

My flowers match my reading!

Sone of my March reading was for book groups so maybe not what I would choose to read

March reading had mixed fortunes - some books that I did not enjoy and some absolute crackers

I’m feeling grumpy because I need to read Any Human Heart for next Friday’s book club but I really really want to read the Donal Ryan. The William Boyd has been on my tbr pile for ages but I’m struggling with it.

February was a good book month

One of my book groups meet outside on the village green where there is a mobile van serving gorgeous coffees and home made cakes. It is paused from December to March. Suggestions for books are made and then we vote on a WhatsApp group to pick the favourite. I’ll put up a photo when we meet next time

I’d like to hear about your book clubs
Where do you meet?
How often?
Who decides what everyone reads?
Can anyone just turn up and join in? (A friend of mine was interviewed to see if she was suitable!)
Books that most people have enjoyed or not.
Good or bad I’d love to hear from you

January was a good month for reading.
I also borrowed and read ‘Hannah Coulter’ by Wendell Berry but I’ve given that one back.
Klara was a reread for a book club.
My favourite was probably ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ - quite challenging but I was totally absorbed.
Hello Beautiful was a good story.

I’m a bit tired of being told “You MUST read this book!”
You don’t know my taste.
No thanks I really don’t want to read your crime/romantasy/horror.
I prefer to tell people what I enjoyed and if it piques their interest they can research it and maybe choose it for themselves.

Just reflecting on my recent reads - I like a good story but great writing is what I’m looking for.
Enjoyed Ann Napolitano’s ‘Hello Beautiful’ but I’m loving J.M.Coetzee’s story ‘The Pole’ - so classy….

One of the best things for a book lover is to have a ‘book buddy’.
I meet my book buddy about once a month and even though we don’t have exactly the same taste it’s fabulous to have someone who loves books as much as you do. We can talk for hours about our latest reads.

Please can we have a thread of all the rooms of doom that family have to stay in over Christmas?
It’s time! After 23 years of marriage, the in-laws are still putting us in the Peach Room of Doom, with the Formica Stool of Chastity, and new for this year, an ironing board for a splash of colour. #DuvetKnowItsChristmas #XmasAtTheInlaws and donate to Centrepoint via @rhodri.biz
