Thank you so much! Just another 20 or so to go! FPP for the win!

I have tried the FPP method and I am getting lovely square-in-squares! Yeah me! Most importantly, my center squares are truly square, which was my problem before. Thanks for the tip and encouragement!

Thanks. I think I am going to to try FPP. It seems like a little bit more work, but worth it.

I think I need a much lighter touch!

This is not something I have paid much attention to. I suspect this is just one of those I can start to pay attention to in my relatively short journey - 9 months learning about quilting.

There are many things that could be going on, so it would seem. I think I felt that starching would help more than it does. I also have a new machine and I find the pedal very touchy!

Thank you. I can, but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. It is the center square that isn’t, well, square. Lol. The points of the center square need to line up with adjacent blocks where seams to come together.

Here are three photos. (1) attaching the last two corners, (2) trimming the last two corners, and (3) a finished block.

I didn’t make the connection with her 2025 Best of show piece at WC 2025. I am so in awe. I will check out her website and video. Thank you for these very generous tips and suggestions.

I just learned a new term - FPP (Foundation Paper Piecing). It is my desire to do FPP, not EPP (English Paper Piecing). The latter requires hand sewing, which I don’t do (yet?). My aim is to machine sew. Good to know the difference! And…thanks!

Aha! Thank you for the tip. My brain was “stuck” on the other method I had read about.

Thank you! It felt like a huge success!

I just scrutinized the measurements for the various pieces…and found 3 wrong measurements in the instructions! Arggh.

It looked like a straight forward pattern! Possibly a “no-no”, I interfaced the pieces before sewing - I got tired of the fabric stretching and moving around on me. But still there are problems. Sigh!
