“The whole structure of society itself will be up for some degree of debate and reconfiguration” - Sam Altman

I find it fascinating that the AI industry’s top CEOs talk casually about social upheaval as the natural consequence of the technology they’re building.

It’s such a weird flex.

The bane of our time is zero-sum thinking, the idea that the economic pie is fixed.

Many oppose immigration, fearing jobs or resources are lost. In truth, companies like Apple, Google, & Microsoft wouldn’t exist without immigrants, nor would the wealth they’ve generated for employees and customers

Art isn't inherently moral. The moment an artist is proven to be bad, people suddenly rush to prove their art was always bad, rather than grapple with the fact that bad people can make good art, and that it's not possible to truly know for sure the morality of the artist based on their art.

There was a solid 25 year run of optimism about both democracy (starting with the fall of the Berlin Wall & collapse of the Soviet Union) and technology (starting with the internet then smartphones) which seems to be completely lost right now.

we just made the fun discovery that PC builds made from Meta's fork of Unreal Engine will crash if you try to open them with your OpenXR set to Meta but no headset active... but if SteamVR is your OpenXR runtime and you don't have a headset plugged in there's no crash.

The thing about studios is, they're never the same without their people they call the "talent"

Otherwise it's all just marketing and years of "remember when we did this" with almost none of the people who were there anymore

And I feel this keenly every year I survive working in this industry.

I don't understand why more people aren't taking this seriously, because he's now in a position of power, and ownership of an unprecedented propaganda machine, that he could actually do it. We could seriously be looking at the Land of the Free becoming another Russia or China in our lifetimes.

Thrilled that Agile Lens has successfully won our very first grant. We’ll be working with excellent collaborators and building on much of our previous #xr theater work to craft a “virtual rehearsal room” for The Royal Shakespeare Company !
