❄️ Wintry Monday in western Labrador; snow began around noon and already 9 cm reported as of 4pm at Wabush #YWK. More on the way.

🌡️ Prior to the snow, the temperature bottomed out at -17.6 °C this morning, the coldest minimum since April 8.

Top measured gusts thru 7:30 pm NST:

172 km/h (Cape St. Mary's);
165 km/h (Trepassey);
162 km/h (Cape Race)*;
156 km/h (Cape Pine);
155 km/h (Sagona Island).

Healthy rain across central and SE Labrador, as well as much of the Great Northern Peninsula from late Friday thru last night. Finished off with a trace of snow in Happy Valley-Goose Bay (and largely fell as snow over the Eagle River plateau but no hard accumulation data avbl). #nlwx

Post-Tropical Storm #Melissa racing far out to sea this morning. NE Avalon saw brief but intense rainfall last night with rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour, putting totals in the 30 to 50 mm range.

Unrelated rainfall continues today over areas further west on the island. #nlwx

Very warm Monday in #Labrador, with several locations setting new October extreme maximum temperature records. 📈

Nain auto station WFP peaked at 25.0°C – just 1.1°C short of the October record for all of Labrador (26.1°C at Mary's Hr, Oct 7, 2023). 🌡️

As we close out September, the 20+°C day count for St. John's #YYT in 2025 sits at 81 days.

In 9 of the past 14 yrs, October added ≥1 more day, so will have to wait & see where the tally finishes. Of course, the old record of 79 days (2012 & 2022) is topped either way. Data since 1942.
