Rewatch is good for inspiration though.

Honorable mention because IT IS JUST AN EXPANSION:
ELDEN RING: SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE
A massive experience for just a DLC. Many, many hours of content. It's more Elden Ring and that's a great game to begin with. But Keighley, it's just a DLC.

1. UFO 50
Listen.. I haven't even played all games yet. But UFO 50 is mindblowing. The most ambitious retro-styled game I have ever played. Every title has been a complete experience with fresh mechanics with genuine 8-bit feel. I waited for many years and the result is shockingly good.

2. BALATRO
I'm too stupid for card games. I get bored of roguelikes. Yet Balatro is so damn addictive that I want to carry the Steam Deck with me everywhere. I have just started so I don't have that many hours in it, but I will soon.

3. ASTRO BOT
3D platformers was never "my" genre, but Astro Bot makes is incredibly easy to like it (like Playroom and Rescue Mission before it). It has so many fun quirky mechanics, details and love letters spread out through it. It's pure joy in game form. It's also incredibly well made.

4. CONSCRIPT
What a year for horror! In the end I had to give top horror to Conscript - it has all the ingredients of survival horror without being horror-horror. The WWI setting IS the horror. It's a gripping tale of survival. Despite some frustrations (my ending felt wrong in how I played).

5. SILENT HILL 2 REMAKE
I had no hope for this but this was hugely successful in modernizing the original. It's creepy, atmospheric and never makes combat too comfortable despite the modern controls. The original is still playable but this is a great alternative.

6. MOUTHWASHING
The short runtime of 2 hours is what made me buy this game. I have been bored of this type of horror games lately (those lacking the survival bit), but this one nails every aspect. It's strange, fun to explore/figure out, and the story keeps your attention at every second.

7. OLD SCHOOL RALLY
Despite repetitive content (early access), Old School Rally is the most fun I have had with a racing/rally game in many years. It brings to mind the joys of retro driving, especially Sega Rally. I simply could not put it down.

8. CROW COUNTRY
The most concise survival horror I can think of. It gets the genre and utilizes everything I like about it. It has no fat. Gorgeous FFVII-looking PSX style. It's only "low-ish" on my list because I don't love theme park settings in horror (I value atmosphere highly).

9. DEVIL BLADE: REBOOT
I have no previous knowledge of Devil Blade but this was a super polished, no bullshit shmup. Short and sweet but always exciting. The lack of choices makes it easy to get. I love shmups but am actually bad at them, so this fits me better than something lika Ikaruga.

10. RISE OF THE RONIN
This mixes "braindead" open world formula with Team Ninja-infused Souls-esque combat. It has a ton of content but more importantly it's FUN. I had more fun in this open world than FFVII Rebirth for example. With solid combat. I don't get why it wasn't too popular.

🧵1/11
11. HELLDIVERS 2
I was addicted to the first game a decade ago. The sequel successfully carried it over to a more modern style. It's chaotic, funny and addictive. I wish I played more but I drop off online games quick.

Didn't play that much. But anyway - okay I see how Shadow of the Erdtree is big enough to kinda be justified its Game Awards nomination. Still weird, but I get it.
Most played: FFVII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Elden Ring, Stellar Blade and Conscript.

- PS One Demo with the T-rex.
- Jumping Flash was mindblowing to kid me.
- Witnessing Resident Evil.
- Demos for Armored Core, G-Police, Street Skater, Nightmare Creature, GTA and Kula World stand out in my mind.
- Metal Gear Solid(!)
- Becoming God with Game Shark.
Etc!
