Does the word “allegiance” appear in the 14th Amendment? No, but elite law professors are always convinced they make the law mean things. The law doesn’t mean what it says. So, they hang everything on introducing “allegiance” on a 1862 opinion from Edward Bates, Lincoln's 1st AG. 2)

I see the Vichy French are stepping right up to lend a hand. This is the type of capitulation that smacks of consultant class bullshit. "Look, I'm reasonable...I listen to those I oppose." Work to reform if you want, but you don't have to help give a patina of reasonableness to this.
