I was thinking the same thing. It was an appropriately miserable little spectacle that made the leader of the strongest nation on Earth look like a little boy pretending to rule with toy soldiers.

Agree. Also, the point is not to make MAGA vote Democrat. The few independents and Republicans who see through Trump's authoritarianism can make the case that the separation of powers, rule of law, blind justice, free speech, and pluralistic democracy are what truly make America great.

I guess what should really surprise is how long it took this country to mimic China and Russia. It was nice while it lasted.

When you aggressively assert executive power to change the content of museums to make an ideological point about how great America is, you may just be fundamentally misunderstanding the whole ideological point of America.

The entire Trump administration assumes that MAGA are essentially idiots and will believe anything. This scandal may be the one in which a hint of realization begins to seep through to some of Trump's base that the emperor has no clothes. Not that it will change their support for him, however.
