Italian Red Menace on the Hellsite

...just to live in a country where it seems the issue came out of nowhere and has now been legalised.

I fall on the side of allowing people to make that choice because ultimately people can and will find a way regardless of whether it's legal or not. But just find it very jarring that I grew up in a culture that was open about death and discussed assisted dying just...

On the other hand, assisted dying has been a hot topic in Italy for almost three decades. Death is a very public event (think posters on town notice boards, foot processions through the town towards the cemetery, black banners at the residence of the deceased). Yet assisted dying is illegal.

Seems like assisted dying is hardly ever talked about in Britain and yet the bill has passed the first round. My wife even pointed out that death is almost a taboo subject in Britain. If I think about it, death is a very private event and there are very few traces of it in its aftermath.

If people can watch Friends for the 15th re-run, the people can also have re-runs of weird medieval guys.

It's also common sense disease prevention. Why risk another pandemic because someone else is so ignorant they won't do something that has been proven to be safe?

The last time I can think of is the time I was waiting for a flight back to Manchester from Belfast and was browsing books. This girl, barely 5ft tall comes round. I stared at here trying to think where I had seen her before and turns out it was Maisie Williams and I must have looked like a lemon.

The second one was the time I was in Manchester and was crossing the road. A guy was crossing the road to my side and I swore I could recognise him. Turns out it was Ross Kemp and I almost face planted the floor because wasn't paying attention to where I was putting my feet.

Nope, I can't imagine how tense editorial meetings are.

Oh it's 100% that. He can sense that Trump being elected back into office is going to shift discourse and media a certain way and he's priming his future position in that world. In a way I feel sorry for Ash Sarkar because Bastani isn't that far being Walker in terms of really ramping up the grift.

And it defeats the whole point of a left wing alternative news media outlet. Surely the whole point is to provide an, you know, *alternative* POV rather than just subject its viewership to, as you say, shit they could hear anywhere else.

I don't speak German but spent 6 months as an exchange student with a load of German speakers. They already had a glib view of Austrians' language skills but then I heard Swiss German and I was dumbfounded, can't lie.

I'm not entirely surprised that Swiss French speakers are closer to actual French French speakers. Always seems like other than Africa, Quebecois are the only real outliers.

Just not playing against each other. Things would get very dicey.
