I was going to try watching more horror but haven't been too successful yet, ha. But then the new Eureka 4K of MARTYRS is staring at me from my shelf but... I don't know, haha. 😬

Dance off, Hasselhoff, Bag of dicks, I could go on. The "yeah the crazy thing is I just invented the Infinity Stones on the back of a napkin in 20 seconds, I wasn't even trying isn't that crazy?" thing is just so fucking obnoxious haha

Chow Yun-fat is brilliant, a maddeningly charismatic presence, Alex Man unchained and raw, with Cecilia bringing an unstudied and captivating expressionism to her role. This has shot right up to my top favourites of Hong Kong cinema, great film.

The chemistry between the three leads is great and it's less a historical drama that focuses on the ins and outs of what happened at the time, instead using the backdrop of the occupation as a horrifying and dangerous setting for young love to blossom in complicated ways.

Set during 1941 (obviously..) the story follows the intertwining lives of three young people living in Hong Kong right before and during the Japanese occupation during WWII, played by Chow Yun-fat, Cecilia Yip and Alex Man.
