A Newcastle United realist. Make the occasional excellent post. Funnier than anyone gives me credit for. Gamer / wrestling fan / basic bitch nerd. I'll piss you off at some point because I have opinions.
We're consistently linked with Disasi and honestly I think I'd throw in the towel

Can't assume 5th will be Champions League again at this stage.

Yeah sadly I'm definitely Rimmer and it pains me but it is what it is.

Michael Crawford is 83 but clearly hasn't subjected himself to a load of surgery.

Look how much better he's aged than Stallone.

I only glanced this out of the corner of my eye to begin with and thought it was about Gregg Wallace.

Personal opinion I guess. All I know is we've been pathetically weak at left-back and the players we've chosen to sign from within the Premier League last summer have been both massively overpriced and largely ineffective. There are more astute ways of spending money.

Davis could be coached. Targett's legs have gone.

Trafford got found out in the Premier League but still apparently remains our number 1 goalkeeper target.
December 7, 2025 at 2:02 PM
There are intelligent signings from within England and then there's what we do.

Personally, I think bringing in Leif Davis (a Geordie) from Ipswich after they were relegated, to address a dire need at left-back, would have been a sensible, pragmatic signing.

Spending £52M on Anthony Elanga was not

Which is why it baffled me we moved away from looking abroad.

Since we signed Tonali, huge majority of our signings have been from within England and thus the biggest disappointments have been as well.
December 7, 2025 at 12:35 PM
That's a weird argument in my opinion. Loads of teams this season have a perfectly good goalkeeper for the team they are.

Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Villa, Man Utd, Palace, Sunderland, Fulham, Everton - I'm not looking at any of them thinking they need to replace their dodgy keeper.
December 7, 2025 at 12:34 PM
On that we'll agree to disagree.

We massively overspent on Premier League players to avoid buying from overseas.

Woltemade was way down the list of targets and we only ended up signing him because the Premier League targets or their clubs rejected us. Delap, Pedro, Larsen, Mbeumo etc.
December 7, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Might even be tempted to go back for Mamardashvili if he's spending all season sat on the bench behind Alisson.
December 7, 2025 at 12:29 PM
My point being there will be keepers out there who we don't know about.

No one had heard of Dubravka and he was a revelation at the time we signed him; a massive upgrade on what we had at that point.

There will be good young goalkeepers in France, Spain etc if you're good enough to find them.
December 7, 2025 at 12:29 PM
We can't continue to have this mentality that there's no one outside the Premier League who could possibly improve us.

Thiaw has proven that wrong. And it's the attitude which caused us to spend £150M on Wissa, Ramsey and Elanga...
December 7, 2025 at 12:27 PM
I'm not a scout mate. Not my responsibility to find alternatives. Trafford was bullied when in the Premier League at Burnley & Man City instantly decided they needed better.

Personally I wanted Mamardashvili, who apparently we refused to promise the number 1 shirt. Lammens a good signing for Man U.
December 7, 2025 at 12:25 PM
I remain steadfast that Trafford is not the answer.
December 7, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Could so easily have been another 2-2 at the end.

We're not learning.

On top of conceding too easily and making a meal out of scoring.

It's a win which has arguably made me feel worse about our prospects.
