Portico House, East Wood, Wallington. Built in 1740, as the Head Gardener's cottage in the first Walled Garden set out in 1730. The Walled Garden had a brick north wall, hedges east and west and a Ha-Ha on the south enclosing Garden Pond. #nationaltrust

Walking east, in Wall mile 25. Looking along the cleared section of the north fighting ditch at St. Oswald's Farm. Portgate to Heavenfield section of Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail. Ditch was totally cleared of Gorse and other vegetation in 2019.
