To understand why I consider this to be one of my most epic pictures, you have to know that “Swan”, on the left, was a wonderful photographer, a fellow sailor, and a wonderful friend of mine. He passed away not long after this photo was taken. So did this car. Poignant memories are evoked.

One thing that fascinates me is how we simplify our world in order for it to have day to day relevance. Conversely, we gain an ever deeper understanding of our world by developing more complex models of it. Cosmology is an aspect of our lives where we do both.
