Most SA doesn’t happen with extreme visible violence but rather quietly and silenced by broken trust, fear and love. What we do with that I have no idea. I only know that to protect our children as best we can must be aware of this.

Sadly we live in a world where SA is systemic. If we point fingers out and away from our families and friends towards imaginary monsters we risk letting it slip past our notice and affect our loved ones. Most perpetrators of SA are not monsters. They are normal people.

However also remember that you can never protect them from everything and establish a relationship where both you and your children do not feel guilty if sadly such an event happens. This will allow your children to feel safe telling you as soon as possible.

Don’t worry about being the only parent who doesn’t allow sleep overs. Think very carefully before putting children to bed in the same bed. Keep an eye on your children with their friends.
Teach your children what SA is. Teach them about their bodies. Let them learn to say no to touch.

When I did eventually talk to my parents about it when I was in my 20s they told me this girl’s mother had been a sex worker. This doesn’t necessarily make me trust the mum less but it certainly makes me feel even more uncomfortable when I think about the dad who I think was her abuser.

It’s so hard to get your head around SA that was performed by another child who must of course have been a victim of SA to even be doing such things.
I didn’t even say anything to my parents until I was an adult and I spent a fair amount of time with this girl and her parents.

I will note that while Elon appears to be wearing a bulletproof and stabproof vest, the toddler Musk carries around as a human shield is not protected. Which would say a lot about Elon's priorities.
