Not to mention, assuming something does happen, probably won't, but let's say it does. Since russia apparently knew of this in advance, why not stop it? they are in control of it, so surely they have the ability to prevent sabotage, right?

and so has the X-Men, Star Wars, Star Trek, and on and on in a list of things where these chuds with low media literacy grew up to be the baddies of the fiction they grew up on.

I suspect this is her wanting to do the USA colours, but wanting the white on top so it blends into the costume, and not thinking it through all the way, rather than her purposefully wearing the russian flag. Bad look, shouldn't have happened, but... shoulda put red in the middle.

Though, invading across THE ARCTIC, is not an easy task, even if the distance is not that big. Especially since russia has shown they suuuuuuuck at water crossings as small as rivers in Ukraine.

Also Canada is home to one of the largest populations of Ukrainians outside of Ukraine and russia. Despite our small population compared to the USA, we still have more people of Ukrainian descent in our country than the US. so we tend to be rather fond of Ukrainians.

as a Canadian, most people I know think highly of Europe, and hope to cooperate more, especially recently. It's mostly distance that has made the USA our closest partner, but values wise, we align more with Europe.

while the downward trend in the USA and EU is worrying, it would help if this was measured per capita rather than raw billions spent. Of course China will spend more, when they have 3 times the population.

kind of makes it scarier, honestly. That they would do this to not only a white dude, but one of their own shows no one is safe.

not links to, content from, they want people to be linked to the sites, rather than just having google summarize it on the results page

The man who constantly over promises is not set to deliver on his most ambitious one? You don't say...

I mean, yeah, good explanation of the specifics, just... not very surprising that he is YET AGAIN promising something he will not be able to deliver on.

It's the rural areas that voted for him the most strongly, as is often the case with the far right in other countries. While the voting system in the US needs reform, it's not like the rural areas would have voted blue anyway. You can't just assume every vote not cast would have been blue.

Exactly. people aren't boycotting Tesla because of the cars, they're boycotting because of HIM. Also, when he was micromanaging things, we got the Cybertruck. Tesla is likely better off with a hands-off approach.

lol, was just coming to post this. It's hard tack.
May 26, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Because he discounts other countries agency. Besides all his other myriad faults, including the arrogance to believe he alone could fix this, he thinks that the USA runs the world. So everything that happens in the world is at it's discretion, and that Biden was not properly wielding the USA's power

aww, lil wrinkly Devon Rex heads.
May 15, 2025 at 8:58 AM
But it's like this every time
May 12, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Yeah, PP and Smith are sadly no surprise, they kept the rhetoric low key during the election because they knew it would be political suicide to do otherwise, but now the election is over, they lost, they have nothing to lose by pandering to the worst elements of their base. Nickelback tho, wtf?
May 7, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Don't worry, this race is just for his seat. While I would love it if he lost his seat, winning this race does not make him PM. Carney is still well ahead of him in polls and early voting results
April 26, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Yeah, that's part of it too. Smith is a puppet of the oil and gas industry, but she uses the rural/urban divide to help promote that sense of grievance, over things the Liberals did decades ago. The narratives definitely land more with the rural crowd
April 24, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Mainly the cities. As is often the case, it is a rural/urban thing. Alberta and Saskatchewan have a lot of rural farm land.... Living in Calgary, it often doesn't feel like you are in a particularly conservative place, but it and Edmonton are islands
April 24, 2025 at 5:17 AM
yep that was the one! so ridiculous, I can't see any of my neighbours falling for it, but i kinda wish they'd gone a bit less.... nutbar, to draw some more votes from the Conservatives
April 20, 2025 at 12:33 PM
True, it is pretty big. Someone came to my door today, but I wasn't there so they just left a door hanger, but my mind was made up long ago anyway. The PPC came by the day before with their super cringe flyer with a bunch of anti-woke fearmongering.
April 20, 2025 at 12:55 AM
We must live fairly close, lol. Well, I will be voting for him. I would have already but my polling place for voting day is like, super close, waaaaay more convenient for me than early voting, so...
April 20, 2025 at 12:32 AM
Exactly. even if Trump is overthrown tomorrow and a nice safe Democrat elected, at this point we can't trust the US populace to not elect another wannabe fascist dictator next time. I get many countries face a surge in the far right, but when it's the US, it's a bigger problem for everyone else
