spider family updates: the babies had their first molt on sunday (pictured), which meant they were ready to leave the nest! of the original 13 babies i counted, 10 left the web between sunday and tuesday, 1 died in the web, and 2 have stuck around. mama spider left yesterday; her work here is done

the other day i saw Maman the giant egg-carrying spider sculpture, and a real mama cellar spider holding her eggs, within a few hours of each other. i'm still thinking about it. a spiritual experience tbh

sleep well, our little monkey, our baby old man, our mr fritz. you were such a big little dog and you'll always be with us
a scruffy black-and-tan wire-haired dachshund, sleeping in a dog bed, with a stuffed toy tucked between his front paws. The bed is slightly too small for his long body, so his head is hanging out, but he doesn't seem to mind. His toy is a valentines-themed hamster; it is pink and wears a headband with heart antennae. We called this toy his "pink alien"
