Apparently this is a gluten free pizza crust. This is why I’m afraid to try new things (I ordered another pizza from a Trusted Restaurant)

A very fun entry - I really enjoyed the central mystery and I love stories about [redacted] and was delighted that my hunch was right! @leewelchwriter.bsky.social is another new-to-me author that I will for sure read a lot more of!

I LOOOVE gothic novels, and @kjcharleswriter.com wrote a perfect one. The vibes, the twists, the peril, THAT COVER. So good. Also, some of the best/most compassionate ADHD rep I’ve ever read. Fidgeting to focus, repetition, being a total mess. I felt very seen. Need to own in all formats

Bought this on a whim looking for more queer souther gothic and was delighted. The inevitable, approaching doom and the real moral grey area everyone was operating in were perfection. My first @ardenpowell.bsky.social but definitely not my last - already grabbed 2 more for indie fantasy month

The audio for this book is so good, and the vibes are so thick and syrupy. @leemandelo.bsky.social never misses, and this will be going (along with my beloved Woods All Black) into the perpetual re-read cycle.

I love the vibes, I love the setting, I love the characters, I love the gender. Alex Easton forever! Another series that I hope lasts a long time. @tkingfisher.com is an auto-buy author

This series is so good I want to cry. I need everyone to read it so it can continue as long as @veronicarothbooks.com has stories. I love books pulling from Eastern European folk traditions - they feel like invitations back to a culture that was ripped away from me

Just finished The Bayou by @ardenpowell.bsky.social - delighted that I bought it on a whim when looking for more gay southern gothic after Summer Sons. Very vibey and morally ambiguous. An excellent Halloween treat, and I will for sure be reading again.
October 12, 2025 at 7:13 AM
@leemandelo.bsky.social has a special ability to absolutely ruin me. Summer Sons is different from The Woods All Black, but equally brilliant and gripping. Grief, rage, queerness, toxicity, terrible legacies, and found family. Another new favorite southern gothic 🖤

Also, the audio is excellent

All of Us Murderers by KJ Charles Chapter 1 impressions: the cover is 70’s gothic perfection. Amazing set up - love the dashes of humor and self-awareness (genre-awareness?). The ADHD recognition is STRONG - could easily have been a snapshot of my brain. Think I’m in love.

Halloween-Vibes Personal Readathon proceeds apace. I’m so excited to finally get my grubby paws on All Of Us Murderers 🖤

If you see this skeet, you have to name a trans book more people should read.

The Woods All Black by @leemandelo.bsky.social

If ever there was a time for trans rage in the face of fundamentalist oppression, it’s now. Trust me, it is amazing. (And weirdly, a comfort read?)

the El by Theodore C. Van Alst. Super voicey (complimentary) multi pov book, with Coyote making appearances and some timeline shenanigans. Really engaging and a clear love letter to a city and a time. These characters feel real. Loved it, buying copies for my classroom. @tvayyyy.bsky.social

Alexis Hall could not write a bad book if he tried. Lovely nerdy book about finding your identity and community and accepting that it may look different than how other people think it should.

What Moves the Dead by @tkingfisher.com . Oh my god what the fuck did I just read (complimentary!) Wonderful creepy gothic with Annihilation vibes. Loved the gender stuff. Immediately ordered the rest of the series.

The Reanimator Mysteries @authorkaraj.bsky.social books 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5. Fun historical supernatural mysteries, with romance! Following the same couple allows for exploration of relationship growth and development. So good! The 4th (and last 😭😭😭) book is coming later this year.

How many books do I need to bring for my week at the beach? And which books? I’ve been sitting here staring at it for ever

Went to Iron Dog (my local indie) for the new @cheriepriest.com book, and it insisted on bringing home friends. I swear df knows my book taste better than I do, and I’m not mad about it. Now I just have to decide where to start…

Just finished this amazing book and now I’m making it everyone’s problem, ie I want everyone to read it so I have people to scream with. You know, normal stuff.

But there were a couple fossils that were too sacred to goof around with: borealpelta, and then getting to hold two actual fossils. Ngl, I broke down and wept
