Armchair expertise without credentials in history, economics, world affairs, and anything to do with India. Academic training in Physics.
There might be a simpler explanation: for-hire troll farms based in India, but hired by governments or lobbying groups. The exchange rate and cheap labor make it really convenient.

I disagree strongly. It will be "Ammayi, just think of the children's future".

Your analogy can be interpreted sensibly: 30% of your annual income is the replacement cost of the car.

Comparing the market cap to GDP is useless because the market cap is a value on paper that is subject to trading frenzy. It represents no economic value.

Total nitpicking from a non-economist who has no idea of how useful this is: the pretty splines joining the points in the graphs are misleading.

More mendacious than lugubrious

Without the dementia, you mean.

That's about the price of a single family home in parts of the SF Bay area.

His cabinet also did this, and so did some world leaders. I wonder why the coerced flattery has to be televised though. Propaganda for the MAGA base? Personal satisfaction at watching nominally powerful people grovel? Deluded belief that the sycophancy is real admiration?

The main reason for demanding displays of gratitude is that it plays well with older, Fox News watching white people.

Reminds me of the old wisecrack: what's a joint like that doing in a girl like you?

I am surprised the BJP troll army hasn't attacked you viciously yet. Maybe they don't consider Bluesky important enough.

That is interesting to know. Thanks.

The Saqi being a woman is widely entrenched in popular ghazal imagery in South Asia (though it is never quite explicit). Interesting to find that the original concept referred to boys

Too difficult to whitewash the perpetrator's deeds, so they are trying to save the enabler's reputation.

Surprised Smith fell for it, but I like his aggressive approach. Been following test cricket for almost fifty years; never liked "batting for a draw".

Thanks for the link. Without debating the modeling and the cost estimation, the point still remains: nuclear energy generation is an imperfect alternative, but clearly better than fossil fuel generation. It is part of the solution, along with solar, wind, and other renewable sources.
June 28, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Conclusion is a bit misleading. Electricity generation from nuclear plants has much less of an impact on global warming than that from fossil fuels. Higher available water temperatures do impact operations, but do not rule out nuclear energy as a good (not perfect) alternative to fossil fuels

If the summary is accurate, your point about leverage is insightful, and not obvious from the graph. Learnt something today. Thanks.
June 27, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Is this an accurate summary?
* Hausfather:
warming since 1970 is 0.19 C/decade, 0.29 C/decade since 2010; ergo acceleration
* You:
1. it has been 0.3 C/decade for three decades, so no acceleration
2. it is a bad idea to estimate a trend with points of opposite leverage at the start and end

Why do I get the feeling that maybe it was all scripted? US bombs Iran to make Trump look macho, Iran bombs US base in Qatar in face-saving retaliation, and a day later it's a ceasefire. Very convenient.
