Two parts of my life have intersected in an odd and unusual way. In a previous post, I described the invasive yellow star thistle which has invaded our ranch. When I decided to attack it, I had become a "Thistle-Chaser", embodying her childhood war with the stinging plants. Strange co-incidence.

These plants are really nasty. They contain a chemical that can cause brain damage in horses, leading to death. They are also the top invasive non-natives in California, choking out natives such as wild California poppies. They can sting you right through gloves. Originally from Spain.

Hi, BlueSky. I'm Clare Bell, alias Rathacat. I'm the author of the #RathaSeries, also known as the #NamedSeries. I was a Star Trek fanzine writer in the late 1970's (runner up for a FanQAward,),then published Ratha's Creature with Atheneum-Argo Margaret K. McElderry (1983). Here's the cover.
