History teacher. Interests run too wide and never deep enough but that's OK for a pub quiz.
This is great to get across the sense of scale. (I could do with a similar one to use to show why humans didn't hunt dinosaurs!)
On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Whilst researching another relative, stumbled on my Grandad's brother - who was held as a POW in WW2. I have literally NEVER heard this story before - how has this not entered into my family mythology?!? Amazing what people didn't talk about.

@mrmayhew.bsky.social Increased tariffs on Diss needed.
So the reason Norfolk Island copped a dramatically higher tariff than the rest of Australia is two shipments of Timbaland boots from the Bahamas and some aquarium supplies from the UK that had their point of origin mislabeled or misrecorded.

My Geordie grandad was 41 the last time Newcastle United won a domestic trophy. He would have been 111 on Thursday. It's been a while. #hwtl

My wife teaches KS2 and her pupils have to use fronted adverbials and subordinate clauses. I'm marking Y11 essays and I just wish they knew how to use capital letters or spell the words that are literally in the question.

Having been off "the other one" for so long - I'd forgotten quite how inspirational and generous the #historyteacher community is.
