I have been thinking about how pointless getting dressed & thinking about clothes feels right now, with *gestures wildly* ALL THIS. But then I saw this painting of an 80s babe wearing a kitschy sweater and ... wrote this raquellaneri.substack.com/p/does-fashi...

My story about the Met employee art show in print! 640 staffers from across all departments (security to conservation) contributed work to this dazzling show (I interviewed 7 of them). Up till Dec 1!

Downtown designer Wendy Nichol (who did the dress Beyoncé wore for the DRUNK IN LOVE video) is a painter now. I talked with her about her new art show, past lives, psychic downloads, imprinting herself on her canvases, witches, and — yes — Beyoncé raquellaneri.substack.com/p/fashion-de...

Read the new Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy biography and got philosophical about her wardrobe, clothing as armor, fashion as self-deflection, and the indignity of dressing for public consumption: raquellaneri.substack.com/p/what-do-ca...

Wow the ending of "Bluey" (our child's favorite TV show) really had my husband ruminating on the importance of endings, why no one seems to know how to or want to end things anymore, and why closure is good actually!!! www.retronym.io/the-importan...

OBSESSED with everything about art and fashion historian Anne Hollander in this fabulous piece about her seminal book "Sex and Suits" but I'm DYING over her personal photos. Her red patent go-go boots?!?!? And her desk?!?!?!! Just the coolest www.washingtonpost.com/style/fashio...

I loved talking with Todd Oldham about doing his crazy DIY experiments on MTV's HOUSE OF STYLE for my piece on fashion TV for the NY Post. I posted more of our convo here: raquellaneri.substack.com/p/designer-t...

I asked Lyn Slater — former fashion influencer behind the Accidental Icon and the author of “How to Be Old” — about how to age, dress, and reinvent yourself without fear. (We also talked about "The Golden Bachelor" ...) raquellaneri.substack.com/p/what-do-yo...

My nieces have a bin of Barbies, and none of them look like Margot Robbie. Wrote about the clothes in Barbie, Poor Things, and Priscilla and the joys and horrors of being a real-life doll. Happy Oscars Day! raquellaneri.substack.com/p/forget-bar...

Rosamund Pike always dresses like the main character (or villain) in a much more fabulous, entertaining, juicy narrative than everyone else around her. I wrote about her style, crafting a persona through fashion, and the best ever to do it: Marlene Dietrich raquellaneri.substack.com/p/rosamund-p...

As for the film — a bit more conventional than I would have liked but not bad by any means. Bradley Cooper's over-the-top performance didn't bother me so much, as Lenny was a very *extra* person. Costume and production design stellar, even if it failed to include this ICONIC outfit

Have long been obsessed with Leonard Bernstein's style — such swag, such personality!!! Impeccable, flamboyant, fabulous. He wore the ridiculous with gravitas and the staid with flair. I wrote a bit about it (and MAESTRO) here: raquellaneri.substack.com/p/maestro-le...

Starting off 2024 with a bang ... lol

No one wore turtlenecks like Leonard Bernstein! MAESTRO has many wonderful ones, and got me thinking about the conductor's style and flair, both on and off the podium, which the movie captures beautifully. raquellaneri.substack.com/p/maestro-le...

Also, the film did not include this iconique Bernstein fit!!!
