The use of "AI" to describe an automated system that does not appear to be artificially intelligent in any actual way is one of those media bugbears from the last few years that drives me nuts

(This is not a knock on David Roberts, who is just reposting the story)
China launches a "20 story vertical food factory" that involves no human labor -- it's entirely run by AI. Uses artificial light custom-designed to induce growth (& reduce overall energy consumption). Will produce 50-60 tons of food a year.
