One of my proudest achievements is that Crista Flanagan (aka Lois) owns my cross stitched version of her

In 1917, he was gassed and wounded at Vimy Ridge. His age was discovered and he was discharged.

He was sent home to Vancouver, but caught Spanish Flu and died on Boxing Day 1918 - aged 16.

Today, I’m remembering one of the names on the Port Coquitlam cenotaph - Herbert Bradley.

He was born in Dover in 1902 and emigrated to Canada with his family when he was 9. He lied about his age and enlisted in 1916, when he was just 14.

Joking aside, we should all take a leaf out of Shirley Valentine's book.

I went to Greece for the first time this summer and raised a few glasses in her honour.

So sad to hear about Pauline Collins. I guess we all know what to have for tea tonight

As always, shout out to Shirley Render's wonderful book 'No Place for a Lady: The Story of Canadian Women Pilots 1928-1992', which inspired this whole project. The book was written in the early 1990s and the amount of work she must have done is staggering.

Since 2022, I've been researching the first 100 women to get their private pilot licences in Canada (aka the Canadian Aviatrix Project ✈️).

I thought I'd take a look to see how it started versus how it's going!

I was the Usherette from the original London show, so I made a Sloane Cinemas headdress, Denton pin, and a “tray” of ice creams with flavours based on all the movies mentioned in Science Fiction, Double Feature.

(The Brad and Janet sitting next to me were most put out that I made them vanilla 😃)

The shadowcast of Excited Mental State (@RockyHorrorTO.bsky.social) were fantastic (and lovely to chat to at the merch stand!). My favourite has to be the Criminologist though – putting up with getting booed every time and being a great grandfather clock 🌎

Well, this has been a Halloween week for the ages! Cheeky wee trip to Toronto to celebrate The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 50th anniversary. And I got to meet the legend that is Patricia Quinn (and talk about The Box of Delights with her!)

Spent my Thanksgiving afternoon watching Linus O’Brien’s wonderful documentary, Strange Journey.

I’ve been a huge Rocky Horror fan for as long as I can remember and the film is a fantastic celebration of the people, the show, the movie, and everything that it represents 🫦

Thank YOU, HeritageBC! The gift certificate to Patina Brewing Co is very appreciated. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration for the food-based theme for 2026’s Heritage Week! 🥘
