You don't have to be as wordy as me, and shoutout to @coelasquid.bsky.social who I borrowed the majority of my list of existing media from, but PLEASE take a moment and submit feedback to Bluesky about their proposed ToS change.

While I imagine this proposed change disallowing “sexual content involving non-consensual activity…” was created with the best of intentions, it is necessary to point out how this is inherently antithetical to the stated “We provide a safe space for consensual adult expression” for the following reasons:" 1. The current auto-moderation system is inherently unreliable, frequently flagging art post that are not “sexual content” as “sexual content”. Given this is already the case, how are the users supposed to trust that your system will identify and flag said material correctly? Tumblr already showed how disastrously such a blanket policy, enforced algorithmically, can be with their ill-fated war on “female presenting nipple.” PLEASE learn from their missteps. 2. It is notoriously difficult to determine if art is depicting consensual or non-consensual activity without context beyond the image itself. 3. The premise of this ban runs counter to the whole point of Bluesky's moderation system. The concept of having artists and creators appropriately tag their content so that users have agency in determining what posts they want to see, was the selling point of Bluesky. This represents a dangerous and short-sighted step towards wholesale censorship and removal of user agency, which would materially harm the platform. 4. Starting down this road would render many existing, acclaimed works of art unacceptable on your platform. Examples include; Berserk, Watchmen, Sin City, Skydoll, Blacksad, Game of Thrones. With this in mind, again the proposed ToS change appears to run counter to the expressed desire to give adult creators and adult users a safe space to publish and enjoy media. 5. Following through on the reasoning behind this ToS revision, it is puzzling that this specific topic has been chosen. The same logic can be applied to all depictions of violence. War, violence of any sort, assault of any sort, police brutality, sporting events, UFC matches, and even nature documentaries, all depict various forms of potentially upsetting, non-consensual activity. Trying to apply blanket policing any of these topics would inevitably harm factual, reality-based, or fiction-based depictions of common events in stories and the real world. Again, I see where this ToS change is coming from, and the good intentions behind it. However reality is messy, and all the possible consequences of such a change need to be taken into account.
