For sure! This wasn’t to say it’s impossible; only that it’s so much, much easier for a middle class person with savings, and a well paid spouse to run than anyone dependent on their salary.

I talked to one of the candidates for the city elections recently - also doesn’t help that you can’t be poor and run for office, it’s not like you can work full time and run at the same time. I wonder how much that skews representation.

It’s super interesting, I joined threads and mastodon, Bluesky feels different. I don’t know whether the posts I’m seeing are more engaging or the activity levels are higher - or just whether I’m sick of x - but it feels like a tipping point.

I do live in some hope that there is some combination of words or conversation that could convince those people.

One of the key problems is that most political strategy in the left involves assuming people are broadly rational, have some semblance of intelligence, and are somewhat better than minimally informed.

If you scroll up in the transcript, immediately before Trump talked about disinfectants - the undersecretary was talking about disinfectants - explicitly mentioning bleach.
So yes - in context Trump was referencing disinfectants including bleach and isopropyl alcohol.
