this is symbiosis. just gives the bosses more cover to keep moving rightward to address the bad-faith criticism. it’s working as intended

my less charitable interpretation is that so much software was already buggy af from orgs moving too fast and being too willing to accumulate tech debt that this isn’t a big departure in thinking or practice. AI is probably writing many of the tests now too

And just to be 100% clear it is explicitly forbidden in Article 23(d) of the 1907 Hague Convention IV, itself incorporated into domestic law via 18 USC 2441(c)(2). It is a directly enumerated war crime, and giving or acting on that order is prosecutable domestically.

Let me put this more productively: there was considerable public fury toward previous Republicans for lies, crimes, misbegotten wars, etc. But it ran up against the *enormous, extremely powerful* forces defending elite impunity. And the latter forces won, decisively. It was barely a fight.
