Also, that level of power and access to everything would just go to your head and mess you up.

We've all certainly felt that way on Bluesky at least occasionally.

Someone's actually named their children Winner and Loser. Winner became a criminal and Loser a police officer.

A Roshanda by any other name.
Which is more dangerous: a gun or a swimming pool? How much does campaign spending really matter? What truly made crime fall in the 1990s? These are...

There probably is a level of wealth after which you are ultimately miserable. It's probably way above the kind of "regular wealthy" that affords you pleasurable luxuries and into super-wealthy.

For instance: has anyone ever before made any dashboards bringing together Healthwatch type patient experience data and the kind of demand and capacity/population needs data that an ICB holds? A tool like that could be really powerful and useful.

One thing I would like to see more of is local Healthwatch people being more involved in working with ICBs on the transition towards a post Healthwatch world. There is potential for doing really exciting things with qualitative patient voice data, as long as you can preserve know-how and continuity.

At least not in the values and mindset they have chosen for themselves.

I'm generally skeptical of predicaments like "they can never..." & very rarely believe in irredeemably lost causes - but I can see how change would be much harder when the vapid pursuit of wealth is socially validated.

That would make sense.
If only therapy could have prevented that.

I was crashing on his sofa that night bc I was in London for work. Remember sitting later that night w. a cup of tea, trying to explain The Email to his lovely partner Jet, while texting with the Sweetie back home about our cats.

Elite Fuck Club ppl will never have happy relationships like we do.

(Also now smiling remembering how a rather tipsy me read out the entirety The Email dramatically Gossip Girl style to @darcyswickham.bsky.social in a Highgate pub because that's the kind of shenanigans we get up to 😁).

Like - it sounds like a really toxic, exhausting and vapid way to live, you know?

Maybe those types are fundamentally unlike you and me, but still... Happy people in happy relationships don't cheat like this.

I remember when George Osborne got married & The Email came out - you know, the one in which it turns out he was cheating on the bride with, like, the whole Elite Fuck Club and then some. And I keep thinking:

If you're rich and powerful and could have everything, why would you want to have *that*?

We've all surely met at least one Royal Payne.

Wait, so if they have to be strictly platonic, do we need to have a separate name for companions who did have a romantic relationship with the Doctor, such as Rose and River Song?
November 14, 2025 at 2:34 PM
I refer to my husband as The Sweetie.

Check out the Workers' Museum and Happiness Museum too. They're both quite small so easy to squeeze in among other attractions.

As well as that one, we have a "Dark Brandon" /Joe Biden 2024 mug (wedding gift from Chris' dad) and a pro-EU "no man is an island" one from the Radical Tea Towel Company.

We're well stocked for quirky political mugs.

For Romanians it's very much a class divide: middle class Romanians stay on, build life in the UK, become British. Working class Romanians work super hard, live way below their means, scrounge and save specifically for returning to Romania as soon as they can afford a nice house & car.
