Almost 3 years ago I gave this talk at the Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting.

Feeling it a lot of late. If anyone finds some...certainty under a couch cushion or something, let me know.

Yesterday we got out our last tags for our big hunting disturbance project! We're looking at how gunshots impact the movements of green-wings and mallards during the fall hunting season along the Illinois River.

This crew has worked VERY hard over the past two months to catch so many ducks!

Caught some mallards and green-winged teal for a fall hunting disturbance project today!

Also, caught a coot! Love me some coot feet. 🪶🌏🧪

It is my last work day of 2023. Wishing you all a Rail-y good new year, a happy holiday season, and a merry Christmas if you are celebrating like my Sora friend here :)

If you need me the next two weeks, I will be under a blanket reading a book

Harvested all the peppers, tore out the plants

Planted garlic under the okra, got the cold frame set, and spinich/leeks seeded. Will probably be a week or two until it needs the window and plastic cover. 🌱 first year trying to really extend my season with cold frames. Im excited.

Many of you over on the bird site got to hear about Luna's antics over the past 13 years.

She was an opinionated, fluffy, loud gal who loved little kids, playing fetch and talking.

Sadly we said good bye to her this week. Our hearts are broken. 💔

Just finished @scalzi.com new book Starter Villian. Highly recommend. I laughed many times and it was a wonderful escape from what has been a very challenging week.
