Exactly so. I played Space Marines for a while, I disliked as some chapters got updates and others didn’t. So two armies could be using the same equipment, but with different rules, that irked me.

Now, I just play for narrative and aesthetics and lore and the fun of collecting/building/converting.

I personally liked the Kroot, they were pretty rubbish on the field, but I like the variety of minis. Some of the new sculpts are great!

I do like the space dwarves, I may nab some pieces for conversions.

Overall, my advice is to choose an army for the lore and that you like, for whatever reason.

I’m a big skaven fan, even bringing my rats into 40k with some heavy conversions.

As a player, what sort of lore or play style do you like? Personally, I love shooty armies and enjoyed Tau immensely.

I think so! But, I hope to have a guest bed eventually to be ever more comfortable.
