There is a lot of truth here, but I have to point out that one of the problems of our time is assuming that immigrants don't share the views of the contemporary GOP. There are plenty of Indians for example cheering on the decimation of government & deportations without due process.

It’s not new. The Republican right, well before Trump, had a cold-war era hostility to social democratic Europe (or “Yurp”) as unreliable, ungrateful allies. Remember "freedom fries" from the Bush years?
Serious question: Can somebody explain to me why the Signal boys loathe Europe so much? Exasperation with longstanding European refusal to spend more on defence really is not enough to explain this degree of hostility. What’s so bad about Europe? Too snobby? An obstacle to their libertarian dreams?
